Nutmeg prefers cooler climates hence mid country areas of Sri Lanka are ideal for the growth of nutmeg. In Sri Lanka, Nutmeg cultivate mainly in the Kandy and Matale districts though it also grows in Bandarawela, Ella, Koslanda, Katuwana, Kabaragala, Wattegana and other areas which provide its required climatic conditions.
